The walls are getting thicker.
I was down among them. Awash in a sea of humanity. But apart. Like an island fortress. The crowds broke on the walls I’ve built. Never even getting close.
And me? Not reaching out. Digging deeper. Fortifying myself. Stone and mortar against the onslaught. Receding farther and farther from the masses. Never seeking solitude, but finding it anyway.
I’ve asked before. I ask again. How can it be? Surrounded by people. All alone. Behind the walls.
