So Thanksgiving is almost here, that means my yearly rant resurfaces. Here’s this year’s version.
Thanksgiving is too damned important to pass up for Xmas. Xmas, in the way most Americans celebrate it, is a commercialized insult to the various religious practices it claims to represent. It can wait its damn turn till after a real holiday is done.
Thanksgiving is a reminder of a time when two disparate peoples came together and celebrated their ability to put aside their differences and not only live together, but thrive together. Every year Americans come together and eat some of the typically American dishes that they actually ate back then. Turkey, cranberries, etc.
Seriously, a holiday honoring a time of coming together, sharing and unity and you people can’t even wait to put up your gaudy lights, fake trees and window clings until after its over. You are pathetic. If you understood what either of these holidays are about, you wouldn’t commit this crime. But you don’t, you never will, so my cries fall on deaf ears.
