Wyoming had me fooled. I will not make that mistake again… hopefully.
Left Salt Lake first thing in the morning, didn’t see too much of it as I cruised through on I-80. Kinda sad about that, Dia says its beautiful. Talked to Fish on the phone, but wasn’t able to meet up. Too bad.
Parley’s Summit just about stopped me, it goes straight up right outside SLC. Was doing about 25 mph. Blech. But I made it. Most of Utah flew by, took a few pictures. Much prettier than Nevada. Big rock faces and such.
Rolled into Wyoming, things were going quite well. I thought I was out of the big mountains since things had flattened so much. Was just flying along till I got past Laramie. Then I had to climb up to the highest point on I-80, 8600 feet high. They have a rest stop at the top, so I got out and took a picture.
I wasn’t going to assume this time that I was done with mountains, but turns out I actually was this time. Thankfully. Rolled through the rest of Wyoming and into Nebraska. Pretty uneventful. Which I appreciated after those two ridiculous peaks.
Should make my destination today. There’s about half of Nebraska and 3/4 of Iowa left, but if I can go through Utah, Wyoming and most of Nebraska in one day, this shouldn’t be too difficult.
