See that up there? See what that is? That’s the thin line between “social conservative” and bigot. We’re hearing a lot of rhetoric about “values” and “morals” during this extended election season. Problem is, we’re being lectured by people who have none. They can tart up their hate in all the fancy words and slogans they want, but in the end, it’s just hate. Hate for someone who is different. And guess what that is. I like definitions, so here’s the one for bigot: “a person who is utterly intolerant of any differing creed, belief, or opinion.” The shoe fits, so I’m stapling it to your foot.
Here’s a snippet from the “Focus on the Family” website.
•You can ask to see the curriculum being used to teach your child about such topics as “family diversity,” bullying prevention, “tolerance,” “social justice,” and other topics that are often used in schools to introduce homosexuality.
What they’ve done there, without actually saying it, is say that they are not tolerant of diverse families, social justice and homosexuality.
They’ve gone in-depth about how bullying should be stopped by focusing on the “wrong actions” of the bully but not the reason he’s beating the other kid up. Let’s be honest. The kid is getting his ass kicked because he’s gay. If all you do is tell the bully its wrong to beat up on other kids, but don’t tell him that gay people are people just like everyone else, then you’re only fixing half the damn problem. But then, you don’t see that as a problem, do you.
The website asks the question “Do you know what you’d do if your child’s school started teaching material contrary to your beliefs?” Then they detail, step-by-step, how you can get your school to stop doing that. It doesn’t matter if your actions go against someone else’s beliefs. They’re just wrong, because you’ve got an imaginary friend on your side who says you’re right. They claim that they want both sides to be taught, but it can’t be because all that gay stuff is damaging to impressionable children’s brains and they’ve got the science to prove it. How sad, they tried, their hands are tied. Pricks.
This whole damn post is just rambling because I’m so angry with all this bullshit. You hear it every day on the radio, the tv, even in the streets. These religious people who think they’re right, without question, without consideration, they’re just right. And anyone who disagrees is morally bankrupt and should do what they say because they’re better. So if you’re gay, a member of another religion or just in disagreement, you have to shut up and do what they say because they’ve got a book that says they’re right.
You are not better than me. I am a good person and do what’s right every day because I know what’s right. Me. I know. I don’t have to have a vengeful god threatening to withhold eternity from me to do what’s right. I do it on my own. That makes me better than you. I’m not doing it out of fear, I’m doing it out of love. Until you can be half the man I am, sit down, shut up and quit trying to tell other people how to live their lives. Assholes.
For all you tolerant religious people out there, please understand this is not directed at you. But then, you’re tolerant and considerate, so you probably hate these fucks as much as I do for dirtying the good name of your religion.
