Tax Evasion is Theft

I’ve always laughed off the “taxation is theft” mantra as silly (because it is), but lately it has been popping up more and more on the social media feeds of people I know are intelligent, caring, quality people. So I felt I had to say something. No surprise there, right? OK, so, from the best…

Shutting Down Border Protection

So, not everyone may know this, but the Coast Guard guards our coasts. Really. Confusing, I know, but it makes sense if you think about it. And one of the things that keeps them the busiest, is stopping the flow of illegal drugs. There’s this myth that drugs flowing into our country are mostly on…

Apparently I’m Hopepunk?

So I read an article on Vox about a “new” trend in pop culture called hopepunk. I was vibing on a lot of what they were saying, never stopping the fight, caring doesn’t make you weak, and love might actually save the world, when I came across this bit by writer Alexandra Rowland, the coiner…

Site Updates

Some people using the Google Data Miner, errr… browser Chrome were having problems viewing the site. Switched to a super basic theme and will find something pretty when I have time.

We Lost, but our Endzone Celebration was Amazing

Angry flames illuminate the sky, throwing crazy shadows across the neighborhood. Firefighters struggle to contain the blaze as concerned neighbors watch from down the street, hoping their homes won’t join the conflagration. Suddenly, a firefighter bursts from the front door, chased by a gout of smoke and flame. In his arms he cradles a small…

Is this really all it takes to “influence” you people?

You can wander the internet and find all kinds of articles about “influencers”. These are people that make a living talking, or crafting, or playing, or doing stupid things in front of a camera, and either live stream it or upload it to youtube or whatever. Then people all over the world tune in and,…

Taking back “both sides”

The phrase “both sides” was unfortunately used in a moronic way by our president and has come to be a point of contention between the two self-created “sides” in American politics today. The “left” uses “both sides” as a negative phrase, claiming anyone using it can’t see the difference between neo-nazis and children being tear-gassed…

Holy cow, it’s dusty in here.

A year, really? That’s a bit… unsettling. I’ll admit, that last one was a doozy, but I didn’t think it was so good it should stand alone for a year. What hubris. Speaking of hubris, my therapist and I were talking about my aspirations and my peculiarities and how they’re tied together. She encouraged me…

Make it OK

I’ve been seeing a therapist for a few months now for depression. Together, we’ve figured out that I’ve probably had it since puberty, but never put a name to it or admitted I even had a problem. But, looking back, yeah. Actually pretty obvious. I’m always angry. Hence the image for this post. But it’s…
